Leslie Lee, LMHC
About me
I am a licensed mental health counselor in Washington state and have 14 years of experience in the mental health field. I completed my degree in 2000. While earning my Masters degree, I worked in two different inpatient psychiatric hospitals for a year each. Then, I worked for seven years at a community mental health center as a therapist and clinical supervisor. After taking a few years off to be a stay at home mom, I had a private practice for five years and found it was my favorite setting of all. This is my fourth year with Better Help. I have worked with groups and individuals struggling with depression, stress, anxiety, grief, illness, and life change. Additionally, I have assisted people working on relationship boundaries and emotional abuse.
My style is warm and caring and thoughtful. I believe in treating people with respect and dignity, knowing our lives bring us to a crossroads at times where the path forward isn't always clear. We can look together at your goals and obstacles to pioneer a way through by prioritizing and taking one step at a time. I want to provide a safe space to hear you and help you gain a more comprehensive perspective of the landscape of your life or focus in on one facet of an issue. I will adjust my approach based on your preferences. My approach blends person-centered, emotion-focused, cognitive-behavioral, narrative, and mindfulness techniques. In addition, I utilize an understanding of neuroscience to help inform what is going on in the brain and how we can harness that knowledge to bring about lasting change.
I will work with you to develop goals that meet your preferences for treatment and specific needs in the therapy process. You have a central role in deciding your focus and collaborating the path forward. My role is to support you and assist you in making progress. Seeking out counseling is a brave move and I am so proud of you for taking this step.
I look forward to working with you!

Talking with Leslie is helping a lot. She is a pleasure to talk to and made the transition between therapists so much easier by telling me about herself and taking a history of me. She gives concrete ways to work through my issues and how to take care of myself. She picks up on unique insights and instead of reliving trauma over and over I feel like progress is being made.
