Lisa Cooper, BACP, NCPS
About me
I am a counsellor in the UK with 4 years of post-qualifying professional experience working with adults and young people. I have been a volunteer with CRUSE, helping clients manage grief and loss. I have also worked for a charity, supporting clients with a range of presenting issues, including anxiety, self-esteem, family, and career difficulties. Counselling is my second career. I combine my counselling practice with my work in the fields of education and mental health. I qualifed as a teacher in 2000 and obtained a Masters degree in Education in 2004. I continue to support students in higher education as a mentor and teacher with a specialism in neurodiversity, autism, and ADHD, including how these impact wellbeing.
I trained to work as a pluralistic counsellor, combining a range of theoretical approaches, including psychodynamic, person-centred, and CBT. However, I believe that you are the expert of your story and you have many strengths that can assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. My style of counselling is therefore quite motivational and solution-focused. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey. Let's do this!
PS. If you have read this far, you have also probably worked out that I am neurodiverse :)
