About me

My name is Lorene Floyd and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Alabama. I received by Masters in Counseling and Human Development from Troy University, Montgomery and my BS degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. I have been working in the mental health field (primarily the Veteran Affairs Health Care System) for 30 years and am currently retired so that I can have more time with my grandkids. The bulk of my experiences include working with individuals with substance abuse problems and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This has equipped me to also be able to relate and treat issues such as anger, anxiety, marital, and stress along with a number of other mental health disorders. I have also recently completed certification to be a Life Purpose Life Coach with the hope that I can help you discover your purpose and develop your passion.

I'm relatively easy going and open-minded but believe in being direct and honest. Although I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy, I believe most times that just allowing you to talk about your problems goes a long way towards finding a solution and healing. I'm a very spiritual person of faith and enjoy singing, dancing (only for fun) and walking.

I am excited to be a part of a helping team!
