About me

Hello!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with over 15 years of experience working as a therapist and over 25 years of experience working with children and families recovering from trauma, grief and loss. I have worked with clients suffering with a wide range of diagnoses including mood disorder, depression, bi-polar, anxiety, panic, trauma, PTSD, dissociative disorders, psychosis, adjustment disorders and gender dysphoria.

My therapy style is collaborative and client-centered. I believe that the best therapeutic work is accomplished when clients are provided opportunity to feel safe, respected and able to have a strong connection with their provider. I strive to create a working relationship within which clients feel safe and at ease. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, trauma-focused, emotional-regulation training and the practice of Mindfulness. In the last year, I have had the privilege of adding a First Responder-specific trauma certification to address the complexities of primary, secondary and compound trauma in First Responder fields. I am honored to work with First Responders and Veterans and hopeful that my diligence to stay abreast of the latest research and treatment in trauma will benefit these groups as well as all trauma-impacted lives. Additionally, I have been able to increase my trauma-focused enrichment with the pursuit of certifications in Body-Work treatments for trauma and stress-impacted presentations. I will work with your unique strengths and needs to create a treatment plan specific to you.

It is a brave step to seek help for symptoms that are often misunderstood and dismissed in a busy and distracted world. I am ready to meet you right where you are and help you create a great plan of healing and hope.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Lorin was a kind and respectful therapist who really took the time to get to know me and what I wanted from my experience with her. In a small amount of time started to see real change. Great experience!

Lorin is great! I have an unusual and frustrating situation that inspired me to get therapy for my PTSD and she is always understanding and doesn’t make me feel nuts. She also always gives me feedback plus a grounding exercise at the end which I can use and think about until I talk to her again. I can tell she’s very experienced in dealing with PTSD-inducing situations.

She’s fantastic!

She heard everything I have to say about everything going on in my life and really helped me find myself again

The worst thing about Lori is that she tells me things I don't want to hear. I mean, it's stuff I *need* to hear; it is truthful, and I *need* to act on the information... But she doesn't shove it down my throat, and never says "I told you so" when I figure it out for myself. Honestly, she's kind of like a cheerleader for my mental health. She has cheers to lift me up when I'm not doing so well, and cheers to help me recognize breakthroughs. All without pom-poms or yelling. Lori is an authentic mental health professional who has nothing more than a desire to help in her heart. I have already recommended her to others. If you are looking for someone grounded, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and supportive -- I cannot recommend her enough.
