About me

Hello and welcome to BetterHelp! My name is Lynnette and I applaud you for beginning this journey we call therapy. Whether you’re new to the therapy experience or you’ve been in therapy before, I am here to help you along your journey to wellness and wholeness. I have a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Chicago and over 35 years of professional experience. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and have engaged individuals, couples, and families in a variety of settings addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, interpersonal and family conflict as well as parent-child relationships. I have also helped clients improve self-esteem, coping skills, adjust to major life changes as well as improve problem-solving and decision-making skills. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing are the primary approaches utilized and clients are encouraged to actively participate in the therapy process by setting their own goals and evaluating progress towards achieving them. Finally, I am concerned about all aspects of a client’s life including your physical, mental and spiritual health and well-being. Therefore, nothing is “off-limits” during therapy, and I encourage clients to bring any issue/concern they may have to therapy sessions. Thank you for allowing me to share my background with you. I have daytime, evening, and weekend hours to meet your needs and look forward to working with you!

Lynnette has been extremely helpful in my journey. She listens as I figure things out in my mind and is patient with me and also offers the input I need and not the input I necessarily want. She is kind and very relatable. She makes me feel comfortable when dealing with uncomfortable topics. I highly recommend her.

Lynnette Thomas is an awesome therapist, first & foremost. She is an active listener, who, offers therapeutic techniques, based on my needs. She is a woman of faith and full of Godly wisdom. She cares about her patients and has a very sympathetic & empathetic nature. She shares her own personal experience with life issues (as applicable), that proves to be helpful with my life journey. She is a great advocate of self-care, which I lacked when I first began therapy with her. She has helped me to manage my anxiety, grief of mom’s death & high demands surrounding family issues & dysfunction.. She is knowledgeable regarding mental & medical issues that confronts my family & I, which helps me maneuver through them easier & more productively. I highly recommend Lynnette. She is a great asset as a therapist and I believe to the BetterHelp staff. I am forever grateful.
