Dr. Marcia Garceau
About me
If you are looking for a seasoned, versatile, pragmatic and easy to talk to therapist focused on helping you improve or solve whatever issue(s) you face, I am ready to help when you are. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a PhD in Behavioral Medicine/Health Psychology, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy certification from the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, 16 years of very diverse therapeutic experience and 25 years of corporate experience. My practice approach centers on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
Research shows that CBT is the gold standard for addressing depression and anxiety-related issues and both are very easy to understand and apply, taking the mystery out of understanding what is going on and how to improve it. Both entail working collaboratively in a structured and pragmatic way to identify and replace self-defeating thoughts and behaviors that may be contributing to the problem. They put an emphasis on here and now solutions and include utilizing concrete strategies and tools that can enable you to cope effectively with your current situation as well as determining and taking steps toward a better future. Both are meant to be short-term and focused on empowering you to become your own therapist.
For clients interested in shadow work, in-depth personal growth and fulfillment, or exploring life patterns, I also work with Jungian or Analytical Psychology core concepts.
My clients appreciate how present and attentive I am and generally everyone is surprised by my ability to remember details of our previous sessions without looking at my notes, making them feel very seen, heard, understood and remembered.

Marcia is the most caring and supportive therapist that I have met on Betterhelp platform. She offered so many practical suggestions and tools that helped me in building a more solid sense of self. I struggled with a very codependent and narc type of relationship and after years being with my partner I lost all confidence and strength in myself. I felt stuck, confused, hurt and lost. Marcia was very insightful and able to see beneath surface issues and work on the underlying thought and behavioral patterns, false beliefs, emotional regulations. I was able to gain deeper clarity and insight into relationship with myself and partner. Thank you, Marcia. I am grateful to have met you and have you support me.
