Maria Capehart, LMHC
About me
Hello, my name is Maria Capehart and I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida with 5 years of experience in the mental health field. I enjoy working with a diverse population of adults and couples. My experience includes delivering counseling services of co-occurring mental disorders for adults, couples, LGBT community, minority communities, and immigrants. I have worked with a wide range of concerns including mood disorders, depression, anxiety, addictions, relationships issues, parenting concerns, emotion regulation, adjustment and transitions, immigration stressors, identity concerns and trauma.
My counseling approach is an integrative approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Person Centered. Each person is unique and they are the experts of their own life, I help the clients to reach their maximum potential and I only serve as their guidance. My role is to support the client in building confidence and/or self-esteem, restructure their old and unhelpful belief system and acquiring new skills to deal with stressors and/or to manage symptoms of co-occurring mental disorders.
Together we can explore and identify new internal and external resources in order to build a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
I look forward to meeting you and to being working together!

Maria has helped me in the past and she is helping me again trying to navigate something that recently happened. She is caring, compassionate and really helps you dive into the issues that need to be addressed in a manner that is very helpful while teaching you the skills to help manage future situations that may arise. I would 100% recommend her.

She is very professional and friendly and easy to talk. She comes up with ways, options and choices for me that I didn’t realise were there and really helped me

Maria is attentive, supportive and caring, yet, she hears the underlying issues. She uses pictures and diagrams to help get her point across. She doesn't just listen and nod like my last counselor did.
Maria offers actual TOOLS for me to use, contemplate over and commit myself to doing better, being better!
