Maria Collar, LMHC
About me
My name is Maria Collar. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 2013 and most recently I completed a post-Master's Certificate with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. I specialize in anxiety disorders and the development of healthier choices for wellness. I have experience in helping clients with stress, anxiety, confidence, and coping skills. I have worked in various settings including schools, community-based care, residential, and agencies. My clients are often individuals and families who know setting a therapeutic objective is important for improving their well-being and are looking to implement the strategies that will assist in enhancing their every day wellness.
Each client has a unique situation and needs a different kind of guidance to develop healthier choices—whether that's through individual therapy techniques, learning coping skills, or addressing workplace stressors. You and I will collaborate as we design your therapeutic process by deciding what matters to you and what sources of wisdom are meaningful. I'm a raving fan of positive psychology. The emphasis of therapy should be collaborating, learning, laughing, and thriving to integrate significant therapeutic techniques.
Above all, what matters is to establish rapport as we together identify the best ways for you to mitigate your symptoms. You and I are both people with imperfect experiences who cooperate with a shared purpose of implementing personalized strategies.
