About me

Hello, and thank you for contacting me. I am a clinical psychologist with expertise in mind/body interface. I I have over 40 years experience working with clients ranging in age from young childhood through geriatrics. I ran and supervised a multidisciplinary clinic for 30 years that specialized in working with people who had undergone trauma of all types. Most of the clients I saw had a major physical injury as well as emotional injury. I have worked with people who have traumatic brain injury, amputation, chronic pain, depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. I work with both patients and caregivers. I am also specialized as a rehabilitation psychologist and neuropsychologist. As a result of working with survivors of physical and emotional trauma, I also provide therapy around issues of loss, grief and separation.

I have worked in major metropolitan areas dealing with diverse populations for my entire career. I strive to be sensitive to cultural diversity, sexual identity and orientation. I tailor my therapy approach to the needs of the individual. I work to provide a warm and respectful relationship and reflect the approach that seems to be the most effective in that situation for that person. I am well versed in behavioral, cognitive, client centered and psychodynamic approaches. My goal is to help people address their issues and develop to their highest level of independence and functioning

If you think I may be of help to you, I look forward to hearing from you!

Dr. DiCowden is an extremely caring individual. She listens to you thoroughly, and cares about how you are doing. I trust her knowledge so much. She always helps me sort out how i am feeling (without telling me how she thinks i am feeling), which is exactly what a good therapist should do. She has also taught me how to manage my anxiety in healthy ways. Thank you Dr. DiCowden! I would recommend her to just about anyone.

Dr. DiCowden is so warm and supportive but also very matter of fact. She helps me see through situations and relationships to get to the heart of the matter and understand root causes of my feelings that help me to gain perspective.
