About me

Hi, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor based in the Tulsa, OK area. My experience comes from providing direct mental health services to children, teenagers, and adults with a variety of presenting issues including anxiety, stress, autism, intellectual disability, trauma, depression, ADHD, and anger.

I approach the therapeutic relationship with a team approach and have deep respect for individual differences. Much of my clinical experience includes working with teens served on Individualized Education Plans (IEP) in Special Education in a public high school, and working with both teens, children and adults in a private practice setting.

My experience is varied across these settings as I have provided individual and family therapy with children, teens, and adults in the community; have conducted research in both academic settings and inpatient treatment centers. Regardless of the setting, I believe that we all thrive and grow in an environment where we are heard and provided with compassion and respect. And, I proactively seek to apply this by providing a safe and respectful space to empower my clients to find their best life.

My therapeutic approach draws influence from Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Therapy, Social Learning Theory, and Motivational Interviewing. My style is a team-based approach as I seek to work together with my client to select treatment goals and develop a treatment plan that is specific to the individual. Regardless of whether your goals are as varied as a reduction in anxiety level is to increased social interaction, my priority is to join you and to walk beside you as you develop strength and resiliency on your journey to a more fulfilling future.

Taking the first step in seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. So, congratulations on stepping out toward your goal of a brighter future. Thank you for reading my profile and when you are ready to take another step, I am here to support you in that process.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Marilyn Davis. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Marilyn provides a safe and welcoming atmosphere for our video sessions. She recalls information from past sessions and helps link them together with current sessions to help me with perceptions and insights to my feelings. Marilyn helps me develop mindfulness and management strategies to help me work through living with grief. I appreciate her prayers and biblical references, which is why I chose a Christian counselor.

Marilyn is a fantastic therapist! She listens very closely and remembers key information that guides and informs the therapy process. She is super caring and compassionate and conveys a sense of hope when you may not be feeling hopeful. I especially appreciate that she prays and integrates my Christian faith into our sessions. I would recommend her with absolutely no reservations.

Marilyn is extremely knowledgeable on trauma and its effects on the brain and behaviors. Because of her knowledge, she has been able to help me acknowledge what my responses are to my triggers and offered ways to calm myself so that i do not stay trapped in my trauma responses. I really enjoy having her as a therapist and am very optimistic on the future that we will work through.
