Welcome to Wellness! It is amazing that you are ready to begin, continue, and/or modify your healing journey. I am Marisa, an Ohio native. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Great State of Ohio and Georgia. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the illustrious Clark Atlanta University. Then I received my Masters' degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Substance Use Disorders from John Carroll University. I have worked in the hospital emergency departments, outpatient treatment centers, private practice, mental health clinics, and a comprehensive addictions counseling center. I have much of my 9+ years of experience in this field in various settings as a student, case manager, Chemical Dependency Certified Counselor Assistant, Intensive Outpatient Program Coordinator, Group Counseling Facilitator, Employee Assistance Program Counselor, and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
During my studies, I was afforded the opportunity to be a part of the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) Minority Fellowship Program in Addictions Counseling. With this program, I participated in a national effort to help ensure the behavioral health needs of all individuals would be met. I have been an active member of the American Counseling Association, Ohio Counseling Association, Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, Ohio Association for Multicultural Counseling & Development, Ohio Career Development Association, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Issues in Counseling of Ohio.
I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families – adolescents and adults dealing with depression/mood disorders, anxiety, trauma/abuse, addiction and substance use, divorce, infidelity, family conflict, relationship issues, self-harming, suicidal ideations, and grief. Additionally, I work with clients on career/professional explorations, self-esteem/self-confidence, coping skills, life transitions, and everyday issues through my private practice Wallace Wellness Center, LLC (wallacewellnesscenter.com). Marisa was very helpful, listened to what I was going through and gave me tools to help. It was very helpful to be able to talk with someone openly about what I was going through. She listened with kindness and patience. I highly recommend her for helping to get to u deleting issues and traumas. I hope to work with her again if/when I need help in the future.

Marisa is very observant, non judgmental and knowledgeable. She asked clarifying questions to determine what it is I was struggling with. Some of the tools she shared with me are so useful, I’ll continue to use them on my own.

She is blunt, but that’s exactly what I need in a therapist. Ms. Wallace sends me videos and worksheets to go over after my therapy session in order to help me more. She gives me advice and overall just listen and helps me feel validated and valued. The first session truly rocked me. Everyone says that- “if your therapist don’t make you cry then they’re not doing it right” is true to word. She made me think and actually express myself without judgement and help my feelings feel validated all at the same time. She’s helping me heal. truly amazing.
