About me

Hello! My name is Marisa and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social worker in the state of Minnesota with over 15 years of clinical experience. I believe in the power of hope and will seek to help clients cultivate a hopeful mindset. I use a combination of solution-focused, mindfulness, task-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy methods to help clients develop a vision for their future and the steps needed to reach their goals.

I have worked with clients on a wide range of concerns including anxiety, stress, depression and relationships. I am particularly passionate about helping people who struggle with overeating, emotional eating and chronic dieting. My hope is to empower people to transform and repair their relationship with food and their body by identifying how shame and hopelessness play a part in emotional eating and dieting. Together we will work to end negative body talk, work on self-compassion skills and mindful eating.

I am also passionate about supporting educators and school staff. After 17 years of working in a public school system directly with students and teachers, I understand the many stressors and demands today's educators face. If you are a struggling educator, I am here to support you in developing boundaries and prioritizing self-care.

My counseling style is warm and supportive. I care about who you are in all of your multiple identities and I am LGBTQIA-affirming. I use a strengths-based approach and strive to have clients feel safe, heard, respected, and understood.

I would be honored to work with you and support you on your journey!
