I am a licensed mental health counselor in New York with over 10 years of experience working as a counselor/therapist. I received my undergrad in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University at Albany and hold a dual Master Degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Forensic Psychology and Forensic Mental Health Counseling. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including substance use, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, career/work challenges, and parenting problems. My therapy style is warm, empathetic, supportive and inclusive. I believe in treating anyone and everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
I look forward to working with you!

Fantastic therapist, particularly for younger to mid-life adults! Very easy to connect with and gives a great variety of advice. She lives IN the world, not outside of it - a strength I have found lacking in other therapists. Compassionate and disciplined; she will help you navigate this crazy world. Couldn't recommend more! - 28M, NYC

Great person and easy to talk to.. and that’s coming from someone that doesn’t talk and didn’t think I’d ever be able to talk to someone that would understand and help me understand myself.

Marissa has helped me so much ever since I joined betterhelp! She's patient and understanding, and she's great at taking what I tell her and then reitirating in a more simple, straightforward and objective way. She understands and takes into account all my thoughts and concerns, no matter how frequently they reoccur, and her help has helped me progress a lot over the time we've worked together.

Marissa has always stay in contact with me. Despite even when I’m too busy to respond d. She listens intently and replay with tangible solutions and suggestive corrections that never feel like I’m wrong for how I initially handle a situation but instead she says there was another way I may not have seen due to where I was mentally or emotionally at that moment. And it’s all okay! She always lets it be know no one has it all together. But that we are all growing to just be the beat version of our selves.
