Hello, my name is Mark and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia. I have been working in mental health for twenty years. I have raised five children and have a lot of life experience in addition to my professional training. My Bachelor's Degree is in Religious Studies and my Master's Degree is in Community Mental Health Counseling. I have two years of training in Christian Counseling where I was certified through my church.
My counseling approach is one of collaboration. We will work as a team and put our minds together to find solutions. Once the problem is identified we can come up with a set of steps with small goals along the way to achieve. When you achieve a goal we will make a new one to get you another step closer to your end goal and a successful/desired outcome. As part of the work we do I will likely assign homework to complete between sessions and sometimes I will challenge you with a therapeutic task. Part of your job in our work together is to be as open and honest with me as you can. If you are having a bad day I want to know about it. My role as a therapist is to listen to you in a non-judgmental way, provide unconditional support, and be genuine and authentic at all times. Together we will create a plan to tackle problems one by one. We will prioritize what is most urgent and start there. I believe people can/will get better when they work at it regardless of the challenge they face. I use elements from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Adlerian Psychology primarily when helping in addition to Spiritual Therapy for my Christian clients that request it. I am a natural encourager and believe in my client’s ability to improve.
Years of experience working with all age groups, in varied settings and diverse populations providing therapy for clients with severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders has prepared me to help if given the chance.
I look forward to working with you!

I feel it is a blessing that I found Mark given that I had reservations about doing therapy online. He has exceeded all my expectations and much more. Mark has a wealth of information and experience that has not only helped me but also my husband - I began individual therapy with Mark and this has morphed into helping us both. I have been diagnosed with PTSD and coupled with this are family issues we've addressed.

Mark has been my therapist for 18 months now, and I am so glad to have found him. Whether it is helping me to navigate my divorce, or dealing with past abuse, his insights and his reassurances have been instrumental in making me a better and more functional person, man, and father. I can't be more thankful to have Mark as my therapist.

Mark has been the best therapist I have ever had. He helps me breakdown what is going on in my life, and helps me to realize how many tools I have to help solve problems. From breaking down barriers, to growing as a person alongside my faith, he has helped me overcome such a dark place by reminding me that I am more than my mistakes in life. Every mistake is a lesson to be a step closer to the best version of myself, and it’s been incredible. 10/10 recommend!

I'm not a newbie to therapy (unapologetic), and I can say without a doubt that Mark understands every bit of what I have been through and has helped me from the starting line with him (he had zero knowledge of my past). Mark is truly invested in me as a client and provides me homework that has helped me and my marriage, and I could not be more grateful. I'm grateful that I joined the BH community so that I could get connected with Mark. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Mark! <3

Our wonderful marriage of 46 years ended abruptly and unexpectedly with my wife's passing almost four years ago. I have been experiencing, and occasionally consumed by, regret and guilt over things I should have said to her at the end and failed to say. Mark has been extremely effective in helping me recognize the need to let it go and providing insights on how to make that happen. In addition to our sessions together, he has suggested some powerful resources to help on my journey toward forgiving myself. Roy Lantz

I have been with Mark for over a year now, and after 14 years of a variety of treatments and therapists and psychiatrist, Mark has made the greatest difference in my recovery. I have been able to speak of things I never said out loud with him and he has helped me shift my perspective majorly. He is supportive and provides a safe and judgement free space. The biggest testament to this is that this is the first time in my life that I write a review for anything, but I want others out there to know how far you can go with a great therapist, even if it takes a while to find one, it’s completely worth it.
