Dr. Marshia Allen, LPC
About me
“In my early professional years I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for their own personal growth?” - Carl Rogers
I believe that the most important thing in counseling is the therapeutic relationship that will develop between us, and that you will experience me as a real and genuine person in this relationship.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor and Registered Play Therapist, I have provided counseling services for over a decade in a variety of roles including university based mental health clinics, crisis hospitalization treatment, and as a child and adolescent parent educator. Additionally, I have presented a wide assortment of unique workshops that focused on enhancing the parent-child relationship in vulnerable populations and on the use of effective crisis intervention strategies for adolescents through group therapy treatment.
