Mary Marks, LCSW
About me
My name is Mary Marks and I speak both English and Spanish. I have a Bachelor's in Psychology from Stony Brook University and a Masters in Clinical Social Work from New York University Silver School of Social Work. As a psychotherapist/clinician I work with adults struggling with biopsychoscial stressors and managing all psychiatric symptoms. I also do medication management and am knowledgeable in psychotropic medications. My main modality is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure Therapy for anxiety. I use Motivational Interviewing and psycho-education to guide patients to better coping and understanding their issues. Awareness and Mindfulness techniques, as well as managing stress through better self-care and modifying negative self-talk are my specialties. The therapeutic relationship and the rappor and trust established in this alliance as well as compassionate and supportive listening are paramount in healing and self-development. Helping clients to gain insight into their issues and resolving conflicts are valuable therapeutic goals. I also help clients process trauma, grief, and loss particularly related to the COVID 19 Pandemic.

I am extremely grateful for the insight my therapist gives me or helps me realize in the issues I share with her. Very helpful in reminding me to practice self-care.
