About me
Welcome to Counseling!
I am delighted that you have chosen to embark on a journey towards greater well-being and fulfillment. Your decision to seek support through positive psychology counseling demonstrates a commitment to harnessing your strengths, fostering positive emotions, and cultivating a life filled with meaning and purpose.
I have had great endeavors in different settings such as Hospitals, Crisis Center, Nursing homes, Hospice, School-settings, and Private Practice. Currently, I am a doctoral student, attending Capella University working towards my goal of attaining my doctorate in Psychologist specializing in Development psychology.
In positive psychology counseling, I focus on exploring and nurturing the aspects of your life that contribute to your happiness and flourishing. Rather than solely addressing challenges or difficulties, our approach emphasizes building upon your existing strengths, virtues, and positive experiences to create positive change and enhance your overall well-being.
Here is what you can expect from your positive psychology counseling experience:
1. Strength-Based Approach: I will collaborate with you to identify and leverage your unique strengths, talents, and abilities to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals.
2. Positive Emotions and Mindset: Through evidence-based techniques and interventions, we will explore ways to cultivate positive emotions such as gratitude, joy, resilience, and optimism, helping you to navigate life's difficulties with greater resilience and positivity.
3. Meaningful Goals and Purpose: Together, we will clarify your values, aspirations, and sources of meaning, and develop actionable steps to align your life with what matters most to you.
4. Practical Strategies and Tools: You will learn practical strategies and tools grounded in positive psychology research that you can integrate into your daily life to promote well-being and enhance your overall quality of life.
5. Supportive Environment: Our counseling space is designed to be warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental. You can feel comfortable expressing yourself openly and honestly as we collaborate on your journey toward growth and fulfillment.
6. Collaborative Partnership: Counseling is a collaborative process, and your active participation and feedback are essential to our work together. Your goals, values, and preferences will guide our sessions as we co-create a path toward positive change.
I commend you for taking this courageous step toward investing in your well-being and personal growth. I am here to support and empower you every step of the way as you embark on this transformative journey.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to partnering with you on your path to greater happiness and fulfillment.

She is engaging, challenges your way of thinking and supports you when it really hits hard. She isn't the type to just talk to you at your weekly session either. She is at least three times a week checking in with suggestions to think about, helpful hints, little challenges, and responds within a day to emails. She acknowledges you, validates your concerns, and helps guide you into changing your mindset.

The personal messages from Mary before we even had our first session really meant alot. It helped me see her as a person and not a machine/screen. It also gave me the motivation to engage in the activities she has recommended. Mary offers a different kind of therapy then I have experienced before and I've actively participated in therapy over the last 20 years. The activities have really made me work through my current situation and empowered me to find realistic things I can do to help. Really appreciate her help and it's just been a week or so.
