Maryjane Henning, LMFT
About me
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Certified Life Coach. I have experience working with a variety of issues including stress and anxiety, depression, addictions, relationship challenges, and self esteem. I have been practicing for over 16 years and have training in many therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness. I hold Certifications in Emotional Freedom Techniques and for Life Coaching as well. I approach each client as unique and try to individualize treatment according to their needs and strengths. I hold a perspective that as the person desiring to make a change in your life you also hold the key to that change. I work with individual clients 13 years old and up.
I tend to be interactive and solution focused, I will offer you feedback and strategies to start to incorporate on the path to healing and self growth. I feel that my role as therapist is one of support and guide. My approach includes a foundation of Cognitive Therapy as I believe our thoughts impact not only our emotional state, it influences our choices and therefore the life we have designed for our self. Developing awareness around our thoughts is vital for change to happen. Although I see myself as a support system and guide I believe that for real change to happen in someone's life they need to change what they are currently doing. Therefore, I am directive in that I give homework and strategies that I encourage clients to follow through on. I see our session as a place to process and identify the problem and then the real work towards change happens outside of the session.
I look forward to working with you.
