Welcome to Better Help! My name is Maryssa St. Fort and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I obtained both my undergraduate and graduate degree from Nova Southeastern University.
Throughout my years of working in the mental health field, I gained experience in individual, family and couples counseling. I specialize in working with individuals and couples who have difficulty coping with everyday life situations. I have helped these individuals improve their everyday functioning and have helped couples work through some difficult times in their relationship. I have been a therapist in the for over 6 years and have taken an active role in my community, as she has worked with nonprofit organizations to assist families in Broward County obtain counseling services. In addition to my counseling skills I has held a leadership role with a nonprofit organization for the past several years, overseeing the daily functions of a grant funded program.
It's not always easy to ask for help but it takes a string and courageous person to do so and you have taken the first step! I look forward to working with you!

Maryssa is the best counselor I’ve ever had. She is able to identify my issues immediately and offers helpful ways to deal with them. So far, in addition to the emails and text messages, I have had a couple of physical conversations with Maryssa which I have found to be very productive. The important thing is that these conversations are ran how I need them. For example, for the majority of time I had done the majority of the talking as I needed to off load my thoughts and Maryssa would support with short comments and advice. During other moments, Maryssa has pressed a particular point to enable to get some more depth and clarity to support the development of further discussion and/or next steps. I am very happy with the way things are progressing.

Having had 3 sessions now with her, I honestly think she’s great. First consult, despite me be a little guarded, she honed in on some of the issues and drew pressing concerns out and also gave me practical suggestions how to work through things between sessions. She’s also great at responding to messages when hesitant or stuck which has been a great support. While she’s here for me and my issues, she’s also shown a caring, gentle hand when encouraging me to get things done. I would recommend her to others.
