I am an autistic therapist, which is important to mention as my communication style may differ from what you are accustomed to. I am very direct and honest, and my guidance is grounded in research and the lived experiences of other clients. My therapeutic approach is centered on helping you define your current purpose. I employ a client-centered approach, cognitive behavioral techniques, and existentialism to ensure you feel heard, seen, and valued. Together, we will embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. I am pleased that you are here, and I look forward to working with you.
I began my education in research psychology before entering counseling. Now, I am a Community Counselor. I have spent my time as a therapist side by side with people in their homes, in their schools, at their workplace, and out in the community. I have worked with people on the Autism Spectrum, with ADHD, depression, mood disorders, and end of life issues.
My approach to helping has always been to help you define your current purpose. I utilize a client-centered approach, cognitive behavioralism, and existentialism. I want you to feel heard, seen, and feel that you are important. We will work together to help you on a journey to discover yourself.
I am glad you are here and I look forward to working with you.

Matthew has helped me immensely. Since I’ve been counseling with him, my confidence has improved, I have new hobbies, my CPTSD has cleared up, and I am much better at setting boundaries. I highly recommend anyone who is struggling or going through hard times to see him. He is blunt and straightforward, often cutting right to the heart of the matter. He is very good at spotting behavior patterns very quickly. If you prefer a therapist who will coddle you, approach you with softness, and tell you what you want to hear, then Matthew is not right for you. I say that as a compliment to him. My life has improved markedly since starting therapy with him. Highly recommend.

Matthew is a different type of therapist than I have encountered before. He is direct but kind and very clear in the way he gives advice and helps me reflect on my self. Working with Matthew has expanded my conception of what I am capable of. He helped me navigate coming out to my wife as poly and integrate my new partner into our lives. He helped save my marriage. I'm the happiest I've been in a long time and I credit that to Matthew. I owe him a huge debt of gratitude.

Matthew listens to everything I have to say and helps me understand my feelings and thoughts. He helps me work through what I need to work through and simplifies things that I unconsciously complicate. He has helped me understand myself in ways I would never have done without him. I highly recommend him to anyone that is on a journey of self discovery

I have worked with Matthew through Better Help for over a year and it has been the best therapy experience I've had. I am autistic and had previously worked with therapists who didn't fully understand my perspective or needs. Having a therapist who is also autistic has been instrumental in helping me find a way to exist in the world that is joyful and sustainable. Our conversations are direct, focused on my concerns, and often fun. I would recommend Matthew to anyone looking to build a values-focused life with the support of a therapist who will push you to grow while also letting you shape your experience.

Matthew has really taught me a lot this past year and a half. I always look forward to our sessions weekly. He has really taught me to stop making stories up in my head before anything actually happens. Still a work in progress but he pushes me to continue to do that. He is blunt and honest and will tell me exactly what I need to hear without sugar coating anything. That right there is what makes him a very good therapist! I have been with many and he is the first one to tell me like it is and he is always right. He does a great job knowing what will happen before it even happens, especially when I think he is wrong. haha. Having to admit that I was wrong is a lot harder than just doing it right in the first place. I appreciate Matthew and everything that he has helped me with. I wouldn't be where I am today had I not reached out for help when I needed it. Thank you, Matthew, for hanging in there with me. I know it has been quite the adventure!!

I have been seeing Matt for over 2 years now. At the start I was an emotional mess, all over the place and unstable in myself and my self-worth.
Now I’ve built self-confidence, am clear on my values, and the values I will accept from others. Matt has helped me recognise toxic traits, and although I can’t remove the people who exhibit these traits from my life for various reasons- he helps me navigate the complexities of these relationships.
On a personal note; My lifestyle is not the norm- I identify as polyamorus (multiple partners, with not all relationships of a sexual nature) - which Matt is able to comprehend, and provide appropriate support without resorting to “text book answers” or judging me for my lifestyle choices and relationship structure.

Matthew has helped me tremendously. I was looking for a therapist with whom I could be myself, and feel comfortable sharing anything. What I also appreciated about Matthew's approach was that it felt authentic, and not overly sugar-coated. I could ask his opinion and he would give it to me, as is. He challenged me in many ways and helped me go through some important changes in my life and feel a lot more confident. I hope to keep connecting with Matthew in the future. He has been my best experience with therapy so far. I highly recommend his services. Thank you, Matthew!

i can’t quantify the amount of appreciation i have to the universe for bringing this therapist and process into my life, especially at this time. i’ve had a few therapists in my life from when i was younger to now 36 and i’ve never felt more seen, and my experiences more protected. im not only given sound; thoughtful advice through the biggest life changing event of my life but by above and beyond imo step by step guidance and empowerment to step into the role of doing that all on my own when i’m not speaking one on one with them. I’m very grateful matthew chose this path in life and all the people that will benefit from it as i have.

If you're lucky enough to have him as a therapist - Matthew is capable of understanding people on a deep level even from the first session.
My experience with the sessions were enlightning and he made me feel comfortable speaking about my concerns even if I have anxiety and even if the topic in discussion might have been heavy. He uses talking strategies which make you aware of your train of thoughts, which are extremely helpful to fully understand yourself and what's going on around you.

Matching with Matthew felt like a miracle. I spent 8 years struggling to find a good therapist. He listens and encourages me to talk, I always struggled with therapy because I don’t know what to say but his energy makes him so easy to talk to. He has a way of identifying my anxieties before I can even identify them myself and provides me with real and effective coping skills for my anxiety and intrusive thoughts. Before Matthew I would go months without talking to my therapist but I find myself wanting to schedule with him every other week and looking forward to it. Incredibly smart and as a bonus hes funny. When I talk to my friends about therapy they tell me they are jealous that I have such an amazing therapist. I can’t express how grateful I am to have finally found a truly good and caring therapist.
