About me

I am an autistic therapist, which is important to mention as my communication style may differ from what you are accustomed to. I am very direct and honest, and my guidance is grounded in research and the lived experiences of other clients. My therapeutic approach is centered on helping you define your current purpose. I employ a client-centered approach, cognitive behavioral techniques, and existentialism to ensure you feel heard, seen, and valued. Together, we will embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. I am pleased that you are here, and I look forward to working with you.

I began my education in research psychology before entering counseling. Now, I am a Community Counselor. I have spent my time as a therapist side by side with people in their homes, in their schools, at their workplace, and out in the community. I have worked with people on the Autism Spectrum, with ADHD, depression, mood disorders, and end of life issues.

My approach to helping has always been to help you define your current purpose. I utilize a client-centered approach, cognitive behavioralism, and existentialism. I want you to feel heard, seen, and feel that you are important. We will work together to help you on a journey to discover yourself.

I am glad you are here and I look forward to working with you.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Matthew Miller. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Matthew has helped me immensely. Since I’ve been counseling with him, my confidence has improved, I have new hobbies, my CPTSD has cleared up, and I am much better at setting boundaries. I highly recommend anyone who is struggling or going through hard times to see him. He is blunt and straightforward, often cutting right to the heart of the matter. He is very good at spotting behavior patterns very quickly. If you prefer a therapist who will coddle you, approach you with softness, and tell you what you want to hear, then Matthew is not right for you. I say that as a compliment to him. My life has improved markedly since starting therapy with him. Highly recommend.

Matthew is a different type of therapist than I have encountered before. He is direct but kind and very clear in the way he gives advice and helps me reflect on my self. Working with Matthew has expanded my conception of what I am capable of. He helped me navigate coming out to my wife as poly and integrate my new partner into our lives. He helped save my marriage. I'm the happiest I've been in a long time and I credit that to Matthew. I owe him a huge debt of gratitude.

Matthew listens to everything I have to say and helps me understand my feelings and thoughts. He helps me work through what I need to work through and simplifies things that I unconsciously complicate. He has helped me understand myself in ways I would never have done without him. I highly recommend him to anyone that is on a journey of self discovery

I have worked with Matthew through Better Help for over a year and it has been the best therapy experience I've had. I am autistic and had previously worked with therapists who didn't fully understand my perspective or needs. Having a therapist who is also autistic has been instrumental in helping me find a way to exist in the world that is joyful and sustainable. Our conversations are direct, focused on my concerns, and often fun. I would recommend Matthew to anyone looking to build a values-focused life with the support of a therapist who will push you to grow while also letting you shape your experience.
