About me

I am licensed in the state of Ohio to independently practice counseling, and I have training in three different evidence based therapies; EMDR, CBT, and DBT. I have a lengthy history of working with survivors of trauma, and I am able to help clients manage symptoms of anxiety, challenge and test the accuracy of thoughts that maybe causing problems; and help with managing emotions and improving communication. Throughout the course of my counseling sessions, I challenge clients to identify their professional and personal supporters and to not engage in unsafe behaviors. I encourage the clients I work with to learn skills to “fill their toolboxes” with skills so that they can improve their ability to independently manage symptoms and the overcome obstacles they face in life. It is hard work to make changes in your life through counseling and I will challenge you to reach your potential. I will also help you to celebrate your successes when they occur. And they will occur. I look forward to working with you.

I felt very heard with her, she provided me context to my personal situation that was very insightful and helped me get out of my own head

After several bad therapy experiences from a child through my early 20s, I thought therapy was not for me. My husband encouraged me to try again after having severe anxiety. I was hesitant but Melanie is a gem. I can tell she genuinely cares and just wanting to provide help and support. I would recommend her a millions times over.

Melanie is a fantastic therapist. I've been working with her for a couple of years now. She is very compassionate and caring about how I feel. She is great when I get hung up on something that is bothering me. She's able to pull me away from bad thoughts or feelings I have about myself and has helped me improve my life day to day.
