Melanie McGinn, LCSW
About me
Are you seeking a compassionate space to navigate a difficult time? Do you desire both empathetic listening and gentle encouragement to grow? If so, we might be an ideal fit on this journey together. I'm Melanie McGinn, a licensed clinical social worker. With over 20 years of experience working with individuals and families, I've had the privilege of hearing countless stories and helping individuals navigate through some of life's most challenging transitions and losses.
I specialize in helping clients work through anxiety, depression, career transitions, family and parenting challenges, and grief and loss. In our sessions, you’ll find a compassionate listener who genuinely values your story. I believe in the power of truly hearing you—your fears, hopes, and everything in between. My approach is warm and empathetic, providing a safe space where you can feel understood and supported.
While empathy and understanding are at the heart of my practice, I also believe in the importance of challenge and motivation. I will gently but firmly encourage you to step out of your comfort zone, confront difficult emotions, and make positive changes in your life. My goal is to help you uncover the strength and resilience within you, empowering you to navigate life’s challenges with courage and endurance.
One unique aspect of my practice is my love of books and poetry, which I often integrate into sessions by recommending readings that complement our therapeutic work and provide additional insights and comfort.
I earned a bachelor's degree in English and a Master of Social Work from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2008, becoming a licensed therapist during my career in human services. My approach integrates Person-Centered Therapy with Mindfulness-Based and Narrative Therapy techniques.
If you're going through a difficult or confusing time and feel that I could accompany you and offer guidance on your journey, please reach out. I'm here to listen, support, and help you uncover your unique path toward peace.

Melanie is an AMAZING therapist. She not only works with me on current struggles and how to overcome them, she challenges my struggles and my ideas. She really digs deep into how I function and takes time to understand me. She is a safe place to be honest.
