About me

Welcome to Better Help! Whether you are here for yourself or someone you care about - because you're curious about how this works or you already know you want to sign up - welcome! You've made the click so you've already made a step.

My name is Melinda Noel and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania but have enjoyed some schooling outside of my home state. I received my Bachelors degree in Foods and Nutrition from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. I then went on to obtain my Masters in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. I've worked in other's homes with reunification, in an office setting as a practice manager, as a counselor and as a clinical supervisor, to name a few. I have an extensive background in treating children and adults that have been through trauma. I have several certifications in trauma because I feel it is so universal. Most of us have dealt with something traumatic in our lives whether it be a car accident, the loss of a loved one, an attack, a divorce, etc. Unfortunately, many of us will experience numerous trauma's in our lives, and let's face it, trauma is not an easy thing to overcome. Along with specializing in trauma treatment, I work with people struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship problems and adjustment to life transitions to name a few.

I believe that a person's view of the issues is most important. It is our job as counselors to then help people identify patterns in unhealthy behaviors or additional issues that may be important in treatment, but you know you best. That means that whatever it is you feel is a problem, I will take it seriously and work towards improvement. I love the idea of a counselor being available whenever someone needs help the most - in the moment or as close to the moment as possible.

I'm excited to get started with you and am confident you will feel comfortable, supported and motivated throughout our time together. Let's get started!

Melinda is great, has always challenged me to become better

Melinda is a fantastic therapist! She had a profoundly positive impact on my life, and she completely changed how I approach dealing with my depression and anxiety. In working with her, I learned how to practice true self care, how to not put everyone's wants above my own needs, how to set healthy boundaries so that I could balance my life and career goals, and so much more. In no small part because of her, I now have a beautiful relationship with my partner, an amazing support network, I'm truly excelling in my career, and I've never been so happy in my entire life. Doing my therapy sessions with her has easily been the best decision of my life.

I cannot say enough good things about Melinda. Melinda has helped me tremendously through an incredibly difficult time of my life, and I truly owe so much of my healing process to her. Not only this, but she has such a unique, strong, and challenging (in a good way) approach to her sessions that helped me realize how much of my life I truly needed to unpack in order to get to where I need to be. She constantly challenges me to be the best version of myself. She is highly empathetic, understanding, intelligent, and encouraging. She always acknowledges my growth, and pushes me when I need it, which is something I truly appreciate. She has provided me with such a safe place to express my feelings and emotions and and has treated me with such care. I’m so thankful to have found her and owe so much to her. She has my complete trust, and I would recommend her to anyone.

Melinda is an excellent therapist who is considerate, encouraging, intelligent, and has helped me through a huge amount over the past two years. I couldn't have gotten through the crisis of a divorce without her. She has my every confidence and complete trust

I have been consistently working with Melinda for over a year now. I cannot say enough good things about her. I had never done therapy longer than 1 or 2 sessions before and didn’t realize how much of my life I really needed to unpack in order to properly get to where I want to be. She helped me do that in a way that wasn’t overwhelming for me. A part of me even looks at her as a life coach. She is always challenging me to be the best version of myself and gives me the proper tools and advise to get me there. She has taught me so much about how our minds and emotions work. I feel like I have taken so much from her and try my best to implement it in my life. She is kind, empathetic, extremely understanding and supportive and always makes a point to acknowledge my growth since starting with her. However, she isn’t afraid to acknowledge when I could have reacted in a different way (not a ‘better’ way). She has really given me a safe place to express my feelings and emotions and I’m so thankful to have found her. I would recommend her to anyone who feels they need some extra support.

I was in a very difficult situation with lots of “webs” to untangle. Melinda never makes me feel overwhelmed and breaks the trauma down into pieces that I can think about in manageable sizes. I never thought I could handle the magnitude of my trauma. Every week I build more and more confidence with her. I could not be more grateful we found each other!
