Melissa Johnson, LCSW
About me
Putting yourself first can truly feel impossible. Many of us have responsibilities to work, family or relationships that can easily be prioritized over our own wellbeing and happiness. It's easy to feel overwhelmed or stuck, especially when you don't know how to help yourself. Trying to manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, alcohol/drug use or other mental health concerns can make the process even more challenging. I'm here to help explore solutions so that you can live the life you want to.
My practice draws on concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), through which we can explore effective skills and strategies to deal with the challenges and make meaningful changes. My work is very much strengths-based, so we can work together to find solutions that are realistic and achievable.
I strive to create an authentic connection with my clients, to help create a space that allows for trust and vulnerability. I believe that you are the expert of your own experience and it’s my job to help support you in your journey toward reaching your goals. Together, we can work to identify unhelpful patterns in your life and make positive changes.
Please be advised that I generally respond to messages within 1 business day, and generally have limited ability to respond on weekends.

Melissa is a very caring therapist and very knowledgeable. She listens to me, provides great feedback and advice. Makes me feel comfortable, so it does not feel like I am being looked at through a microscope. We get through every nook and cranny of my mental health, emotions, and thoughts. I am very happy with her as a therapist.
