Michael Atwood, LPC
About me
My name is Michael Atwood and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I have been fully licensed since 2018 but have been working in the mental health field since 2012. I have worked in a large variety of treatment setting including residential rehab, prison, hospitals, partial hospitalization, and traditional outpatient. I have worked with groups, individuals and couples with clients of varying age, ethnicity and background. I enjoy the Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy view of mental health but have studied a variety of other views to be flexible with clients needs. Outside of therapy I enjoy playing games with my friends and family. My experience with a variety of video games, board games and role playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons has helped me be able to connect with young adults and the young at heart as well as equipped me with a different set of problem solving skills that couldn't be learned in a classroom. I enjoy breaking down a problem and finding different tools and skills for solving those problems. If that sounds like something you would be interested in too then I would be happy to get to know you; and work with you to improve things.

My therapist, Michael Atwood, has been wonderful. He has been able to help me peel back the layers. He has given me tools and perspective. Our sessions have evolved over time and I feel like I am on a journey of rediscovering myself and why I am who I am. I highly recommend.

Michael is the perfect therapist for me! He was able to help me identify my goals and stay on track. I feel supported and able to be my genuine self without fear. He has helped me overcome some hurdles that I've been struggling with for years. He uses excellent worksheets and practice guides for role play. 5/5 stars absolutely will be referring him to my friends!

Dr. Atwood is a great therapist my only complaint is that I wish our sessions are a bit longer.
