Michael Peterson, LCSW
About me
My name is Michael Peterson, and I have been working in the field of Social Work for about 10 years. I I am licensed in Illinois and have done counseling for about three years. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with addictions, trauma and abuse, & coping with grief and loss. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I have held a variety of different types of social work jobs (case worker, crisis clinician, therapist, and more), in a variety of different environments, which I feel gives me a deep, multifaceted approach to counseling. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.

Michael is a smart and thoughtful person. I ask a lot of him. I feel like he is paying attention to what I am trying to tell him. If I bring up something that was said previously, he usually remembers. That means something.

Michael's the best and is one of the only therapists I've ever felt heard by. He'll meet you where you are and is there for you.

Michael is great. I can't express enough how grateful I am for his guidance and support. From the very first session, I immediately felt welcomed and understood. He has a genuine warmth and kindness that immediately puts me at ease, creating a safe space where I can truly be myself without fear of judgment. His empathetic approach has allowed me to open up in ways I never thought possible. I'm so lucky to have found him.
