About me
I am registered with the BACP, and I have 8 years in clinical practice, I am person centred counsellor and integrative psychotherapist, and have specialisms in polyvagal Neuropsychology. ACT, Person Centred, Mindfulness and Somatic therapy.
I work with adults, providing trauma informed and integrative psychotherapy,
Adult clients - Anxiety, depression, relationships, trauma,
I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, career and work /life transitions.
With a specialism in neuropsychology, I offer a personalised approach to integrating a variety of therapeutic modalities, as no one therapy fits all, and you are unique (Polyvagal, somatic, and trauma-informed therapy, ACT, and Mindfulness).
I believe that you are the expert of your mind and body and that you have many strengths that will assist you during your therapeutic journey. To heal from life's challenges and adverse experiences, it takes courage to seek out a therapeutic path with a therapist who can guide you on this journey. I have the commitment, expertise, and most importantly a non-judgemental and accepting manner, to ensure you and I can work effectively together.
In our journey we bring with us our childhood experiences and entering adulthood seeking therapeutic insight into improving relationship issues, finding direction and purpose in life, such as our self identity, career and partner choices. And through our journey we adapt to the stresses of life as well as the joys, but at times it can be overwhelming with the transition into family life, children, marriage and divorce contexts.
Fast forward and how did we get here so quickly, transitions and our journey with aging, health issues, loss and crossroad decisions. What ever you bring to our sessions, I provide a non judgemental and accepting lens and a toolkit of new insights into self, your relationships and your place in the world. Together we equip your mind and body, with skills and techniques that move you forward in your daily life with clarity, a calm mind and an energised body to live a more fulfilling life.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Michelle Courtney. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
I've been working with Michelle for two months now, and she's been an incredible support to me during a challenging time. It feels like she is in my team, she raises me up, helps me see my experiences through the poly vagal lense, and helps me join lots of dots up in my fast thinking brain. I recommend Michelle if you have issues with anxiety, triggering, relational compatibility or are going through any kind of difficult time.

Michelle has been accompanying me for almost seven months now, from my hardest moments to the best ones. In every situation I feel supported and understood, and she gives me not only tools and tips to deal with my feelings and reactions, but also valuable insights that help me to better understand myself. I am extremely thankful to her and to the work that we have been doing!

I am really enjoying working with Michelle, as she creates a very comfortable and safe space. She also explains everything in great detail which helps me to better understand what we are working on exactly and how we aim to get there. Overall I am very pleased with our sessions so far.
