Michelle Filippi-Robb, LPCC, LPC
About me
As a therapist with great empathy and warmth, I specialize in guiding individuals through the complex landscape of grief in all its forms. Grief doesn't just apply to losing someone to death. Grief can be experienced in divorce and romantic breakups, loss of our pets, job loss, moving, losing friends, transformation of life stages, loss of physical abilities, and so many other situations. My goal is to support you through the myriad of emotions that grief can cause.
With a background in counseling for over 20 years, including over 5 years experience in grief therapy training and certification, I most often use Person-Centered therapy, also known as Rogerian therapy. I view the client as the expert of their own life and encourage them to find their own solutions with my guidance. I also utilize Brief Solution Focused Therapy.
In our sessions, you can expect a warm, empathetic approach, where your feelings are validated and your story is heard. I will support you in your grief journey as you learn to walk this new and maybe unexpected path.
Am I the right therapist for you?
*I love working with human beings from all backgrounds and this includes race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and disabilities. If there is a reason I do not feel I am the best fit for you I will discuss this with you before referring you out to another therapist on Betterhelp.
*I work from home so you might see or hear the occasional dog or 4 in the background.
*I like dogs a lot and like talking and hearing about them. Much of the grief therapy I have provided over the past couple of years has been with people grieving the loss of their beloved four legged family members (or any pet family member)
*I am very laid back.
*My therapy approach is very conversational.

I absolutely adore Michelle, she has given good insight in just the 2 visits I've had with her.

Michelle is just awesome. She's very down to earth, and a straight shooter in the best possible way. Extremely empathetic and gently made some incisive observations that stopped me in my tracks. She's also funny, and has a relaxed style that I appreciate. She is fantastic, 10/10.

From my initial interactions with Michelle I felt supported and seen. That was so important for me during a period of high stress. She accommodated my schedule, supported me in the areas I needed it, and is a great listener. Michelle gave me advice that I use daily and helps tremendously. What I enjoy most about Michelle is her genuineness, passion about her work, and her true caring. Thanks!

Michelle is great! She is a great listener, diving deep in to what may be the real reasons I am feeling a certain way. So far she has been successful in helping me acknowledge what I could not put in to my own thoughts and words.
