Midge Spong, LCSW
About me
Hi,
My name is Midge Spong. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I graduated from UNC- Chapel Hill in 1993 with my Master’s in Social Work. I am also a Certified Life Coach, which basically means I can help people figure out what they want to do, or where they want to go, and help them figure out how to achieve these goals. In addition to this, I also have certifications in Career, Health, and Retirement coaching.
I am experienced in working with people who are dealing with stress, anxiety, parenting, family and workplace issues, as well as grief and loss. I also have experience, and especially enjoy, helping people with their career planning and health coaching.
I approach counseling with the philosophy that we heal best when we feel heard and understood. I also think that sometimes a fresh perspective, or someone to offer a thought-provoking question or insight, helps us see things differently, and can often lift us up. I consider myself privileged to help people share, explore, and discover more about themselves.
Everyone has challenges and frustrations, but we also have strengths and skills. I love to help people see the strengths they often overlook and figure out how to use them to overcome their challenges and create the life they want! If that sounds like what you are looking for, I look forward to talking with you!

I've only had a couple of sessions with Midge and have already got so much out of them! She created a safe and open space straight away and is helping me to better understand myself which helps so much with figuring out why I feel certain ways. She really focuses on the positives, highlights my strengths and makes me feel valued and respected. Have left both sessions with a lot to reflect on!
