We are all facing difficult challenges in this life and often we find ourselves unsure of where to turn or what to do. We can all too easily get stuck in a rut and can use a little nudge to get us out and moving again. I'm glad you have taken the first step in seeking help. Counseling can seem a daunting endeavor but it can also be very beneficial and rewarding as a means to better understanding of ourselves. My hope is that you will continue reading about me and be able to gain an understanding and a comfort in us partnering together on your journey.
My name is Mike and I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida. Throughout my career, my goal has been to help others to better understand the difficulties they are facing and find a path to work through those challenges. I accomplish this goal by openly and without judgement, meeting the client where they are. My approach includes principles from multiple theorists, each having their own benefits dependent on the issues that are being faced. Our focus will be on the present, the here and now. When necessary as part of developing better understanding, we will look at past events and triggers for how they have informed the present, but we are in the present. We will work collaboratively to better understand current problems, we'll set realistic goals for progress and develop skills necessary to not only overcome current issues but face future concerns as well.
My areas of practice include working with blended families, intimacy issues, infertility/adoption decisions, grief and loss, stages of life, as well as compassion fatigue/care giver issues along with anxiety, stress, and depression.
You've taken the important first steps in this journey to a healthier you. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with you but ultimately whether you choose to work with me or another counselor I hope you are able to gain a better understanding of yourself and create brighter future.
Best wishes, Mike

I found Mike during one of the darkest periods of my life. Through his partnership with me, his respectful, non-judgmental way, he listened and questioned and offered insight that is absolutely priceless.
Thank you, Mike. I see the light that was already inside me that had gotten covered over by layers of darkness. I would recommend Mike to anyone who needs a caring person to just stop and hang out with for awhile.

My career and marriage was in jeopardy and Mike was helpful reaching out and in many cases when I went silent. Mike helped me to immediately grasp what I so desperately needed and form a plan. I love how he offers information in a way that I can understand and trust. I like this because I am analytical and it slows me to decide within my own value system how to look at things as they are and react accordingly. The plan right now is to heal and revive so there is a need to work more on example situations, root causes and how to communicate effectively when reacting to these situations. It’s critical when stakes are high, to have clarity and confidence in yourself. I had to do something because my relationships across the board were suffering and I couldn’t allow myself to be the one who caused this or didn’t try to make the bad ones better and the dump or adjust the malignant ones that sucked my soul.

The best. He handles things as a partner, not as a authoritarian. He truly seems to understand The Human Condition, and his expertise extends far beyond the basic psychological knowledges.

I have had therapists in the past, that haven’t made me feel comfortable sharing things, and never really worked with me. So, coming to betterhelp, I was skeptical. But, since meeting Mike Malone, I feel as though I can be myself and say my thoughts as they are. He helps me understand my feelings and we share a few jokes here and there. It’s great to have a therapist that feels more like a friend.

This was my first time ever trying counseling. Mike made me feel very comfortable in opening up and sharing at my pace. I immediately felt like he understood me and was there to help and support me as my teammate. He listens thoroughly, gives thoughtful responses, and helps you discover yourself. It always amazes me how much he remembers what I've told him. He is professional, non-judgmental, caring, and has a great sense of humor. I highly recommend!

Mike is better than I expected, by far. I wasn't sure about this medium of counseling but Mike has surpassed any expectation I had.
I could go on and on...
I appreciate him - and considering the situation I am in that resulted in me reaching out is pretty intense.... he has handled it with equal understanding, empathy, grace - and nudging me towards the advice I know I need - without being overbearing.
Give him a large LARGE raise.

I have done counseling in the past but the progress I’ve made with Mike is miles further than the progress I’ve made in months of counseling with others through the years. I consider myself lucky to have been matched with him. One thing I like about Mike is how much experience he’s had in the past, which was at the state prison. It makes it very evident how good at his profession he is- knowledgeable and smart. He is very perceptive and is able to break things down and explain them in different ways. He is also incredibly patient and understanding.
