Monica Starovic, LPC
About me
Hi, I'm Monica, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with a Master's degree in Education specializing in School Counseling. I obtained my degree in 2015 and fulfilled the necessary requirements to become an LPC, allowing me to practice as a therapist. After my children graduated from high school, I decided to focus on my career as a therapist.
Throughout my years as a school counselor, I discovered a deep sense of fulfillment in blending clinical work with individuals and groups, community outreach, program development, and evaluation. I found great joy in guiding the healing and growth of children, especially pre-teens, adolescents, teachers, and young adults. Building strong therapeutic relationships is at the core of my practice, and I approach each session with a trauma-responsive and non-judgmental mindset.
I have worked with individuals of various ages who have encountered stress, anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, life changes, grief, and trauma. I believe in meeting people where they are and tailoring my approach to suit their specific needs.
My counseling license is issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors, and my license number is LPC #79150. I have actively contributed to the counseling profession and previously served on the Board of Directors for the Texas Counseling Association. Currently, I hold the position of President-Elect for Texas Counselors for Social Justice, which reflects my dedication to promoting social justice and equality within the counseling field.
Outside of my professional life, I cherish spending quality time with my parents, family, and friends in Houston. I am the proud owner of a therapy dog named Dakota, whom I plan to incorporate into my face-to-face therapy sessions. I have a passion for traveling, cooking, and simply enjoying the companionship of my dog.
I am excited to continue my journey as a therapist, helping individuals navigate life's challenges and empowering them to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives.
