About me

Hello, and welcome. My name is Monique Rourk, Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Here is a bit of information about me and my counseling style. I am a very relaxed and flexible. I have been told that I am very down to earth, caring, and easy to talk to. I would describe my counseling style as compassionate, empathetic, non-judgmental, and meeting you where you are at. Our sessions are relaxed and focused on your goals. You are an active participant in identifying therapy goals and choosing options on how to address them. Depending on your needs, therapy can be more of talk therapy, sharing and processing thoughts and feelings. It could also incorporate solution skill-based focused. We talk about options and come up with a plan together that will meet your needs.

My goal is to assist each individual to develop a rational philosophy of life that will reduce emotional distress and self-defeating behaviors, thus resulting in the ability to be happier and live more fulfilling lives. I believe that each individual is unique and that therapy approaches are to be flexible and unique as well. My philosophy is that each individual has the right and capacity for self-fulfillment and self-respect. I practice an integrative approach, with strong emphasis on client-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy. I focus on providing holistic therapy, that addresses all aspects involved in an individual's life to stabilize and improve well-being. I assist with creating safety, developing self-awareness, and develop skills for coping and emotional stability, to promote optimum health. While I have engaged in many areas of therapy focus, I am specialized in addressing depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, addiction, sexual and BDSM related concerns, personality disorders, self-care, self-esteem, mood disorders, relationship concerns, problem solving, and stress-related concerns.

I hold a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and have worked in the counseling field for 17 years. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the states of Washington, Florida, Georgia, and Michigan. I have specialized training in trauma and PTSD, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, Strong Families parenting program, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skill development.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Monique Rourk. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

I am pleased with our relationship. I've been in recovery for around 35 years and although my journey has been bumpy and I've hit a couple of serious bottoms along the way, I am far from crisis at this time. I am in maintenance mode and also still learning and growing. Monique and I have been working together for around 3 months and our relationship is growing closer. I have had 9 therapists over the years and she is one of the best.

Monique is simply the best. She listens to hear not just listens to respond. That’s something that is important to me.
