Nalalia Burns, LCSW
About me
Hello.
Welcome to my bio. I look forward to learning more about you and determining if I would be a good fit to support you on this platform.
By profession, I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker also licensed as a Clinical Addictions Specialist. I have over ten years of experience in mental health and substance use recovery settings.
My experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings has provided me the opportunity of working with various populations from children and adolescents to geriatric age
adults. Additionally, I have training and clinical experience in areas ranging from childhood disorders to Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Substance Use Disorder, and severe and persistent mental disorder.
My therapeutic approach I would describe as relational , person-centered, and strengths-focused. I am centered in supportive therapy, while also incorporating a variety of theoretical approaches that are tailored to individual therapy needs. These include but are not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. My therapeutic style is conversational enhanced with the principles of motivational interviewing techniques.
I stand on the principle that the journey to change and mental wellness is possible although not always easy nor simple. Nevertheless, taking the first step is half the battle.
Making peace with life and difficult circumstances, putting one foot in front of the other, and maintaining a healthy perspective continue to be the pillars of my personal and professional foundation.

I've met a couple different therapists, and Nalalia was the easiest to click with. She immediately made me feel comfortable and respected. Within just one session, I was shocked by how well I felt she could understand me. She is an amazing listener but also provides advice and guidance tailored to the person. Especially with anxiety, she is an amazing therapist and I highly recommend!
