Dr. Nanesha Courtney, LMHC
About me
I am an open-minded individual with a belief that everyone deals with things differently and that is what makes us – us. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and Certified Disability Management Specialist, with more than 25 years’ experience working with chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and vocational issues.
I utilize Choice Theory, education, and a mix of mindfulness, and other evidence-based practices to help people manage their pain, stress, anxiety, and depression. I work closely with clients to help them identify and fulfill their needs. I am trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is a top-tier trauma intervention. We will work as a team to identify coping strategies that work for you. I will be thrilled to be there with you through this process of learning to become more adaptive, healthier, and happier.

I have worked with clients struggling with chronic pain, medical conditions, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, relationship difficulties, abuse and trauma (sexual, verbal, physical, and emotional), PTSD, teen issues, school/work stress.

Although the relationship between myself and Dr. Courtney is still fairly new, she has been able to connect immediately with my journey and gives me pointed insights that really strike at the core of my needs. It is as though she has known me so long!. Her expertise shows quickly and makes our sessions productive and supportive. Very happy to travel this road with her beside me.

I have been searching for the right therapist for me for a little over a year, I had good therapists but none that I really clicked with. I finally found Dr. Courtney and it turns out the wait for the right fit was worth it, I had been hoping for someone that works exactly as she does. I am so grateful I found her.

I just feel grateful that Dr. Courtney understands me, and we were able to fell connected quickly.
This might not mean that you would connect with Dr. Courtney as well. But here is what I think helps us to connect:
* I am a software developer and I think Dr. Courtney does have a understanding in that space.
* Dr. Courtney shows great empathy and willing to learn more about the back story behind my situtation

I would recommend Nanesha to absolutely anyone interested in therapy. I have been in and out of therapy for the majority of my life and I have never seen such fast and thorough progress in myself. I feel more in control and capable to handle difficult anxiety. If you are willing to do the work, you will see amazing results.
