Nasir Ahmed, LCSW
About me
I'm a bilingual English-Bengali-speaking psychotherapist licensed in New York State with over 20 years of experience. I worked with individuals and families from ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse backgrounds with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, domestic violence, anger management, parenting problems, OCD, and ADHD.
There are times in life when everything is going well, then suddenly comes to a stop. That’s the time you may feel lost or stuck for many reasons- whether you’re having difficult life events, life transitions, or decisions; are in a troubled marriage or relationship, or struggling to discover yourself. Lost is when people call a therapist. It’s after they have tried everything: waiting for things to get better, talking to friends or relatives, or reading self-help books. When you're stuck, getting better requires a different set of skills, a revised set of thoughts and feelings, and the right approach. This is what I aid people to discover – or rediscover.
My approach is collaborative and proactive, committed to using our time together to help you enhance your inner coping resources and access a greater sense of happiness, self-discovery, and meaningful change. I work hard during the session to help people feel safe, feel heard, and accepted for who they are while providing them feedback and support.
Seeing a therapist -- this is not an easy step you’re considering. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first step towards change. We all have answers within ourselves, but sometimes we need a guide to help us find them. If you are ready to take that step, I'm here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you.

Mr. Ahmed is a wonderful guide and advisor to life’s challenges. He is both very warm and personable, but also very methodical and looking for ways to cultivate progress. He takes care to consider all aspects of your life and how they are affecting you, and how your healing journey is affected by these forces. He is flexible to work on a wide range of issues, but can also make a focused and custom approach to your needs! I would be happy to recommend him to anyone!

I really appreciate talking with Nasir because it’s been a few months now but he really remembers everything we have talked about and he can even remember small details I’ve told him before. He definitely is all-in on your well-being and I really appreciate it.

I really appreciate my sessions with Nasir. From the beginning, he recommended a strategy I can use to help take control of my emotions and help me process my problems in a more productive way. He's kind, easy-going and gives good insight in what feels like a simple conversation. I always feels accepted and listened to. I would definitely recommend him to someone who wants that approach and is dealing with issues like anxiety, depressed-mood, or feels stuck in life.

Nasir has helped me during the past few weeks with many questions and difficulties I had. He helped me realize that I should normalize how I feel, how I see the world, and that I should forgive myself for what I do wrong. I need to focus on how to become a better person in my own eyes, and Nasir helped me to realize that I can do that all while being happy.
