Norma Beardwood, LPC
About me
Greetings,
You have taken the first step in taking control of your life. That is a brave thing to do indeed. Identifying and acknowledging the problem is great and I will be honored to walk with you through this process. My name is Norma and I am ready to get started.
I am born and raised in Rhode Island and have close ties to Bermuda. I currently live in Texas and have been an LPC for 23 years. I have worked with individuals and groups with free standing offices and local psychiatric facilities. I enjoy working with depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, women's issues, communication problems and eating disorders. To give more credence to the eating disorder specialist, I am also a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist.
I would describe my approach to therapy as eclectic, drawing on a variety of modalities to best serve a client’s needs and goals. The modalities that have proven most useful are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-based Therapy, Narrative therapy and psychodrama (gestalt) therapy.
Finally, I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership requiring mutual trust, respect, honesty, communication, and commitment to do the work. I hope that my information will help you select the best person for you. I look forward to our journey to positive mental health.

I’ve loved speaking with Norma! She responds quickly, remembers details well, and has given me some great tools for navigating difficult situations and emotions. She is always understanding . I also enjoy speaking with her about nutrition and business related topics since she has experience in those areas as well…. She’s been helpful in all aspects of my life!

Norma Norma Norma,
Thank you so much for just guiding us along during this difficult time in our marriage- we are so forever greatful. Norma was patient, kind, understanding but also direct in a way that was not threatening. She is wise and had a great way of breaking down our walls to better communicate with her and each other. She is a wonderful leader and anyone is lucky to have her as a therapist.
