About me

I am Ohiro Oni-Eseleh and I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of New York for 29 years. I hold a Ph.D from Adelphi University School of Social Work and have extensive experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups in a variety of settings to address a wide range of issues successfully. The focus of my work includes helping people deal with stressors associated with relationship, social adjustment, marital issues, depression, racism, discrimination and immigration. I also work with organizations and individuals to achieve maximum organizational and occupational functioning particularly around issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. In addition, I help individuals explore and attain clearer career perspectives. I approach my work believing that in each of us lies the ability to attain much of the transformative changes that we seek - and I have seen that come to light over and over through the years. Therefore, I bring a well-rounded focus to my work that includes a tremendous amount of respect and hope for each person that I work with. I look forward to an engaging work together.

PLEASE NOTE: I do not accept cases involving pending litigation or the potential of one.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Ohiro Oni-Eseleh. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

A thoughtful and gentle person whom makes you think about whatever you are going through with support and helpful suggestions.

Ohiro is an amazingly kind, gentle, and patient person. He has helped me cope and start to overcome some very severe trauma, and it has made living with trauma manageable even when actively in the midst of crisis. His interactions are helpful as they can be thought provoking and help see an angle where you might be stuck in a rut mentally that just helps you see the situation for what it is. I feel like much of this review is just describing a therapist doing their job really well, and I absolutely feel like Ohiro is an excellent therapist.

Something unique about Ohiro is the fact that he has many anecdotes for situations, and is able to relate often bringing other stories to add perspective. Often it can feel like experiencing trauma is a unique experience that no one could understand unless they lived it. Being able to hear real stories of events happening outside my life help me to realize that much of my trauma doesn't need to just be held deep down inside. Ohiro helps you to not feel alone in your struggle, and to recognize that there are others out there who have also experienced the same painful feelings. Knowing that the Universe didn't just selectively choose me to dump its problems on has helped me get the perspective I needed, and start to deal with overwhelming feelings in a manageable mindset.

I couldn't be more happy and grateful to have worked with Dr. Oni-Eseleh over the year. He has helped me through multiple personal challenges, including familial and romantic relationships. He has help to guide me through the process of self-reflection, overcoming and healing. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for insightful guidance, wise advice and empathetic feedback through the life challenges that burden us and those looking to harness the best and strongest version of themselves.

I am grateful to work with Dr. Oni-Eseleh. I wish I had started working with him earlier. I appreciate his being able to provide fresh. Prospective on whatever we’re discussing and providing me more information from academia, to help me navigate my situation. I am also glad to have a counselor with whom I can openly discuss faith.
