About me
Hello, my name is Pamela English and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Connecticut. I have 11 years experience working in the mental health profession in different capacities. I graduated from Fordham University with a degree in Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Care. This program combined training as a mental health counselor and a faith based component. I completed my master’s internship at a nursing home and a rehab facility. I worked in New York City with a diverse population. I have also worked as a case manager and a counselor at a women’s homeless shelter. Clients in the shelter range in age from 18 to 80 with a wide variety of racial and cultural backgrounds. In addition, I have also worked in private practice with adults and teens. Because of these experiences, I can work with clients with the following issues:
- Social Skills
- Interpersonal Conflict
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Substance Abuse
- Crisis Management
- LGBT issues
- Religious/Spiritual Issues
While working as a therapist, I have implemented the following therapeutic modalities:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy
- Solution-Focused Therapy
- Family Systems Therapy
- Rogerian Therapy
- Narrative Therapy
- Motivational Interviewing
My therapeutic style is inclusive and strengths based. I work to meet each client where they are and collaborate with them to determine their treatment goals and ensure that they do their level best to achieve them. Seeking therapy is always courageous. I look forward to working with clients on this platform.
