Pamela Port, BACP
About me
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist who has been practicing for over 15 years. I work Integratively because I do not believe one therapeutic approach works for everyone as we are all unique individuals. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, psychodynamic, humanistic, person-centered, gestalt, cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic, and sensorimotor psychotherapy. Every person is unique and different approaches work for different people depending on the presenting issues. I have run a successful private practice working with a range of issues from anxiety, panic attacks, depression, relationship issues, grief, trauma, and complex trauma. I have also trained in Eating Disorders and Addictions.
I have a special interest in neuroscience and neurobiology. Understanding the way the brain works can deliver effective interventions in working with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I use somatic and sensorimotor interventions and psychoeducation to teach clients effective techniques to help manage their anxiety and depression more effectively. The body holds onto traumatic memories and experiences so body psychotherapy is effective in helping people process past traumas. I believe psychoeducation is an important part of the therapeutic process. The most effective therapy is based on a strong therapeutic alliance and this facilitates positive therapeutic outcomes by developing a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship. I am warm, empathic, respectful, and compassionate. I will also challenge dysfunctional beliefs and negative thoughts in a gentle and non-judgmental manner to help facilitate you on your therapeutic journey. I like to ensure my clients get the most out of their therapy.
If you are ready to embark on a therapeutic journey please feel free to contact me. I will be looking forward to working with you.
