Peter Callum Armstrong, BACP
About me
My name is Callum.
I trained to become a therapist following a beneficial experience as a client. I know what it is like to sit in that chair for the first time, and I still do it regularly. I believe that exploring your experiences within the safety afforded by a professional relationship can provide you with space to unpack what is going on for you and discover meaningful strategies to move forward with your therapeutic goals. I have been in practice for over six years, and I have worked with a diverse population of clients from around the globe. I have professional indemnity insurance and I am a fully qualified, Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
As a pluralistic practitioner, I believe that there is no a general approach to therapy, and that it is my responsibility to adapt my practices to your way of working, ensuring that you remain at the centre of your therapeutic journey. I am trained in the application of a range of therapeutic techniques and theory, integrating aspects of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Existential Psychotherapy, Psychoanalytic therapies such as Transactional Analysis, and Person-Centred therapy.
Accountability, adaptability and transparency are fundamental to my practice. I will regularly check my understanding, ask for you to appraise the work that we do, and I will listen with earnestness and respect should you tell me that I have misunderstood something, that my interventions are off target, or that you would like to focus on something else. Together, we can create a space that is comfortable, safe, and restorative.

Cal (Peter) has so far been a wonderful therapist helping me over the last three sessions. He somehow manages to get to the root of things very quietly and unobtrusively, which helps me unravel what is going on. Thank you.

Every time I speak with Cal he blows my mind in the best possible way. He’s so knowledgeable and listens to me with incredible detail. The sessions have, some how, gotten better and better. Cal deserves credit and recognition for his outstanding and meticulous approach. Great man, great therapist.

Usually I'm a very closed person and it takes me a while to open up. From the very first session, Cal created such a safe space that allowed me to say what's exactly on my mind. For the first time in a while I felt like I'm being understood and that speaks volumes. I couldn't recommend Cal enough!

Excellent therapist. Have been to therapy many times, probably the best experience I had. Provides very good listening skills, leads by example in terms of vulnerability/honesty, provides frameworks to help structure approach towards dealing and thinking about problems. Highly recommended to anyone!
