Phyllis Trail, LMFT
About me
Hi!
I am Phyllis Trail, LMFT. I am a California-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with a nursing background. I help clients master life changes, including stress, anxiety, addictions, illness, grief and loss, depression, and other issues. One of my focus areas has been those who are raising OPKs (Other People's Kids). Another has been Christian Counseling, for those who prefer it.
Our lives have largely been affected by what we adapted to as children, when we learned about life from people around us. Sometimes therapy involves sorting those ideas from what my client really wants, and giving them permission to have that. Other times therapy is more present-day, as we tackle current stressors or issues.
There are many schools or methods of psychotherapy. I take cues from my clients to find ways they can receive help. I rely on my instincts and our relationship to guide us.
I enjoy revealing hope to my clients. I often can see the silver lining that awaits as we venture through hindrances, to reach freedom, peace, and hope. People come to a therapist to sort out problems, to find solutions and ways out.
People need hope. They need love, compassion, and empathy; those are my tools and strengths. When people get insight and permission to be themselves and move forward, their eyes light up and their entire face changes. It’s awesome, being free!
I’m interested in helping you get free. If my description of therapy appeals to you and your needs, contact me. Let’s see what we come up with! You are the expert of your story, and you have many strengths to assist you in overcoming challenges. I honor you for getting started!

Having a connection with your therapist is very important and I felt that connection with Phyllis right away. She really listens. I look forward to our weekly session because I feel like a heavy load was lifted from me after each session. She saved me during my lowest and darkest months. My healing journey is continuing. I love that she has a sense of humor. Grief is traumatic. But if you have someone like Phyllis you’ll never feel alone. She has this natural way of making you feel that you’ll be okay.

I am grateful for Phyllis. Phyllis helped me to cope with stressors at home and at work at a time I thought I was going to go crazy. She listens well and provides a different perspective to arrive at a solution. It has worked well for me. I also like that we have the same beliefs as a Christian so my goals and her solutions are in sync.

Phyllis is the easiest psychologist to talk to I’ve ever had. I never felt judged, and I never felt like I had to censor myself

I look forward to the sessions with Phyllis as I feel she really does listen and she sometimes challenges me to think about things or clarify what I’ve said which is very helpful. Also Phyllis encourages me which does a great deal in inspiring me and helping me move forward in my current journey.
