Rachael Woods, LCSW
About me
Hello there! My name is Rachael and I am an Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Alaska with 20 years of experience. I have served clients of all ages. It has been my privilege to support people as they overcome issues related to trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, substance use, self-injury, and thoughts of suicide. These are the most common concerns that my clients have brought to their sessions.
My goal is to be someone who you feel is listening fully, without judgement, helping you identify your needs and find within yourself the answers that you are seeking. I tend towards a client-centered approach and have found a lot of success in using Motivational Interviewing techniques. Over the past 20 years, I have built a large therapeutic "tool box" so I am able to adjust my style and approach to meet the needs of each unique individual that I have the privilege of working with. You made a great decision to seek help through counseling. It would be an honor to accompany you in this part of your life's journey.

I'm very grateful I have been able to work with Rachael these past few months. She is kind and attentive, which makes her easy to talk to. She provides a welcome perspective and offers helpful techniques and strategies as needed, but never pressures you. I highly recommend Rachael if you are looking for a good counselor to work with.

Rachel gave me time to open up before asking the real questions. I really like that and it makes me more thoughtful. She didn’t push me into questions and let them come up naturally which makes me feel more introspective about what has been bothering me.

Rachael is a great listener and has been good at meeting me where I’m at . I would give her my highest recommendation. I’ve been less anxious since working with her and use the exercises that she’s given me many times during each week. Grateful of her experience and compassion.

Rachael is a great counselor - I feel like I can tell her anything and there is no judgement. She has helped me tremendously. She is a very relatable individual and I look forward having check ins with her periodically!
