About me

"Have faith that tomorrow will be brighter."

Hi, my name is Rachel Cox, and I have a master's degree in professional counseling from Liberty University. I am licensed as an LCMHC (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor) and LCAS (Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist) in North Carolina. I am working full-time as a clinical supervisor for an employee assistance program. I have ten years of experience working with individuals of varying populations and difficulties.

I utilize a faith-based counseling approach. Theoretically, I rely on person-centered counseling, cognitive-behavioral therapy, existential therapy, and mindfulness-based therapy. These are well-established, researched, and respected therapies. Person-centered counseling directs our work together based on your goals and what you want to accomplish through counseling. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) can help you look at your beliefs and thoughts about yourself and your environment in relation to your actions. CBT interventions focus on adopting new thoughts and beliefs to achieve successful behavior. Existential therapy focuses on your choices and decisions and how the consequences affect your life. Mindfulness therapy focuses on coping techniques and being intentional with your actions.
