About me

My name is Ramata Adebawo. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Oregon with several years of experience working as a therapist in a diverse community. My cultural competency is built on a lifetime experience. Growing up and moving to the United States, where I was surrounded by cultures different from my own, I was encouraged to identify and value the commonalities and differences of the human life experience. Exposure and working with diverse people were instrumental in shaping my worldview and values. My awareness and appreciation of cross-cultural understanding grow as a journey of life. I highly respect and value individuals who come from different cultural backgrounds, religions, and experiences. I feel strongly about working with people who don’t have a voice and collaborating with individuals as a team. I want to be an advocate, a partner, and pursue a role that will allow me to work with as many people as I can. I chose this profession because I feel passionate about it. Not many people are fortunate enough to find a job or a career that they help and teach me how to value and respect individuals who are going through some kinds of life circumstance in life and trying to find a way out of the situation with the support of community and therapist. I am grateful for the opportunity.

My counseling style is very empathetic, caring, mindful, and client-centered, and my counseling style is very understanding, caring, aware, and client-centered. I approach my counseling with combination strengths therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy, and solution-focused therapy to ensure that the highest level of outcomes is achieved as outlined by a unique treatment plan that will focus on your needs precisely. Most importantly, I am committing myself to demonstrate compassion for all and being sensitive to the needs of others.

I appreciate the feedback that I get from Ramata, she helps me to understand how my past trauma continues to make an impact in my daily life and gives me strategies of how to work through debilitating moments that keep me from living in my potential. I have made a connection with her that is invaluable. I’m grateful to have her as my therapist.

I really feel like Ramata is there for me. And listens to what I have to say. I really like that she checks in with me every few days just to see how I am doing.

Ramata has been wonderful to work with! She has made my experience with online therapy great. I expected it to be difficult to connect with a therapist virtually let alone feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable. Ramata does a great job at creating a safe space, validating my feelings and experiences. She also provided me with useful tools and best practices that help me in my daily life! 10/10 would recommend!

After just a few sessions with Ramata, she has helped me see my challenges in a different light. She pushes me to confront things that I wouldn’t on my own (which I requested from a therapist via BetterHelp). I really appreciate the fact that she reaches out between our sessions just to check in, and invites me to do the same. I’m very thankful to have her help!
