About me

Welcome! My name is Rebecca Woods. I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of North Carolina. I have over 16 years of experience providing counseling services to individuals, groups and families. I earned my bachelor of science degree from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania where I majored in social work. I earned my master of social work degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where my focus was on direct practice.

My therapeutic approach is person centered which means my goal is to meet you where you are in your journey. It is of primary importance to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship so you feel safe within your counseling journey. I will work with you to determine what your goals are in counseling and we will develop a plan together to help you meet your goals. I have experience facilitating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I have been trained in trauma focused models, perinatal mental health, and tobacco cessation models. The model I utilize in my services depends on what is best for you as my client.

Some of my experience is as follows: I have had the privilege to work with youth who have been in residential treatment and with their families. I have experience developing and implementing behavior modification plans and helping parents/caregivers develop and implement behavior modification plans for their children. Parenting is difficult, but together, we can develop a plan that works best for your family. I also have experience working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression and ADHD. I have worked with new parents who have faced perinatal mood disorders. I have a strong belief that setting healthy boundaries is important professionally and personally. As a supervisor, I have worked with professionals to set healthy boundaries to prevent burnout.

When not working, I enjoy running and I spend as much time paddle boarding on the ocean as I can. My husband and I have two boys, one who will be entering the teenage years shortly and one with whom we are currently in the depths of the joys and challenges of the teenage journey. Our two rescue pups complete our family.

I applaud your courage for seeking counseling services as it takes strength to reach out. Please know there is hope and you are not alone. I would welcome the opportunity to join with you on your journey to health and wellness! I am generally available in the evenings and weekends. While I strive to keep my calendar up to date, I encourage you to contact me directly about availability.

Rebecca is very personable and has been so helpful, kind and understanding. She asks great questions and offers timely and helpful suggestions and resources. I’ve appreciated the last 8 months we have been working together and even if we are just checking in for the week and not digging terribly deep on something, it has been so helpful to talk out the daily things in life as well.
