About me
***The world is in a state of unrest - a state of dis-ease - and this is taking its toll on everyone. I am ready, willing, and able to help you get through these trying times. From the fear that comes from the uncertainty of the situation to the grief that accompanies the loss of someone you love during this time of tragedy, I want to help you through it.***
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Louisiana. I have 11 years of experience in mental health and substance abuse treatment. I specialize in treating individuals with mental health issues and/or addiction problems, as well as working with couples who are dealing with intimacy or communication issues. I also have experience working with people in non-traditional relationships, as well as people with gender identity issues. Acceptance and inclusivity are what drive me as a counselor. I strongly believe that counseling should be available to everyone. I work hard to empathize with clients, because I know that the therapeutic relationship is the most important tool in helping to create change in clients' lives.
My therapeutic approach is to help you identify the thoughts and beliefs that are influencing your emotions and behaviors, and then working with you to understand where these thoughts and beliefs come from in order to create new, more effective thoughts and beliefs. This leads to more reasonable emotions and healthier behaviors. I believe that a good therapeutic connection helps facilitate effective counseling and provides the best outcomes. In therapy, I will work to get to know you, and to understand your goals and motivation, and then to help you achieve your goals. I look forward to working with you!
