Samantha Hall, BACP
About me
We all struggle from time to time. Often, turning to friends or family can be all we need – however, there may be issues or difficulties in which it is not suitable, effective, or possible to speak to them about – and this is where my role comes in.
If you’re looking for positive, realistic and meaningful results around your area of difficulty, I could be the right choice for you.
I work using mainly Person Centred Therapy, but am also able to encorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) theory and techniques, if and when it's appropriate - in order to help clients move forward by finding practical solutions, in a caring and understanding environment.
Alternatively, you may feel that you just want to talk – to offload how difficult things are. And in this regard, I can offer a true listening ear, seeing things from your perspective to leave you feeling understood. All of our emotions are valid and deserve to be given the time and space. I will not judge you or the topics you share. However, I will gently encourage you to speak openly and freely – not only to give voice to that which is unsaid, but also to explore alternatives if appropriate.
To start, I'll be asking questions to enable me to complete an assessment, whether by text-based messages or face-to-face video sessions. This will include a risk assessment, which will enable me to decide how best to move forward.
I keep my availability for live sessions open for BetterHelp clients on a few different weekday daytime's and evenings (UK time - GMT).
Having completed my Counselling Diploma (TC-L4) in 2013 in Humanistic Integrative Therapy, I have worked in a few different settings on the South Coast area of the UK - where I am based. Primarily at a University with students, using Solution Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT) for 3 years. Also, in a residential treatment facility for clients in recovery for substance addiction.
Following a few years’ break, I have more recently returned to study Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), where I gained the CBT-L5 qualification in 2021. Since then, I have been working in private practice using a blend of CBT and traditional counselling (Person Centred Therapy).
I regularly update my skills and understanding with Continuing Professional Development (CPD), having recently gained a Foundation Degree in Counselling from the Open University.
Over the years I have supported clients from a range of backgrounds and various ages, to work on presenting issues which include: abortion, anger, anxiety, bereavement, body dysmorphia (BDD), bulimia, career direction, child custody, divorce, emotional sensitivity and dysregulation, guilt, family conflict, gender identity, hopelessness, jealousy, loneliness, low self-confidence, low mood, low self-esteem, neurodivergence (ASD/Asperger's Syndrome/ADHD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), over-eating, parenting difficulties, relationship difficulties, sadness, sexual assault, shame, substance addiction, academic and workplace stress, and unhealthy eating habits.
I am fully insured and supervised, comply with UK-GDPR, and work to the BACP ethical framework – of which I am a registered member.
