About me

My name is Samuel and I have deep respect and admiration for any person willing to seek improvement in a therapeutic environment. I was born in Ethiopia, raised in Maryland. I have worked as a counselor/therapist since 2004 and have had great success working with people to improve their quality of life. My approach to therapy is to treat each person as a unique individual with potential to improve emotional health. Oftentimes, emotional injuries such as abandonment, betrayal, injustice, rejection, humiliation and loss can cause long term damage, preventing us from experiencing peace of mind or joy. Similar to physical injuries, emotional injuries can heal if treated with the proper amount of care and nurture. Therapy is a tool to learn how to heal emotional injuries, and trauma, in order to have the strength to strive towards our ultimate potential. Depression, anxiety, anger and many other symptoms are often the byproduct of unresolved emotional injuries. Also, therapy is able to increase self-awareness in order to form better relationships with loved ones and stop a cycle of despair and self-destructive behavior. I wish you the best in your journey towards wellbeing.

Samuel is the perfect mix of objective and empathetic. He speaks in a tone that gets the message across yet is still very kind and understanding. I’ve been through many therapists before and I can say with full confidence that Samuel is the best, by FAR. Couldn’t be happier with him.

I am very thankful to have found Sam here on BetterHelp. He’s been a blessing to me.

Sam is not only a great, compassionate listener but also a wise teacher. He has helped me to understand the importance of self-compassion as well as identifying my own emotional wounds.

Therapy is difficult no matter who you work with but I couldn’t ask for a better therapist in Sam.

Samuel is the best therapist I've ever worked with. He manages to bring a completely objective point of view with his expertise while radiating pure empathy and compassion. The work that I've done with him, for nearly two years now, has helped me immensely. I strongly recommend working with Samuel.

Samuel is incredibly kind, capable, and empathetic. He uses a wide variety of techniques and modalities to address my particular mental health struggles. From very early on, he had a clear sense of exactly what I was struggling with. I leave each of his sessions feeling better and more empowered.
