Sarah Fagan, LCMHC
About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina with about a decade of professional counseling experience. I have a wide range of experience with various demographics and concerns, but specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults, and with challenges related to family dynamics, parenting/guardianship, friendships, romantic relationships, boundaries, grief, trauma (including childhood and domestic abuse), fears and phobias, self-esteem and self-efficacy, depressive and anxiety disorders, ASD, ADHD, health issues, healthcare work, military families, and significant life changes.
I always strive to be a warm and approachable counselor who is non-judgmental, respectful, honest, and compassionate. While I maintain professionalism, I also strive to create a relaxed atmosphere during our sessions. (You can expect to see the real me, and I hope to see the real you!) Another one of my key strengths as a counselor is my adaptability; I make it a priority to understand your needs and preferences, tailoring my approach accordingly. My approach is person-centered, strengths-based and multicultural, and may combine aspects of the following:
* Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
* Schema Therapy
* Attachment-Based Therapy
* Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
* Existential Therapy
* Gottman Method
* Mindfulness Therapy
* Narrative Therapy
* Play and Filial Therapy
* Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
I also believe that nature, music, creativity, and humor can play important roles in mental health, and may incorporate these elements into my practice.
And, I would love to learn more about your interests and perhaps find ways to bring them into therapy!
.
If you think that you may ready to start a new chapter and that we might be a good match, I would be honored to accompany you, support you, and empower you on your journey toward holistic wellbeing. I look forward to getting to know you!

Sarah is absolutely the most helpful and understanding person I could possibly have been matched with. She has a gift for helping me understand that the self-critical, guilty way I'm looking at something that's happened in my life isn't the full picture, and she's incredibly kind and patient. Wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone seeking a compassionate, friendly person with whom to work through their struggles.

A wonderful counselor combining both faith and psychology to address issues raised - both deep seeded and complex as well as day to day.

Sarah's gentle and compassionate approach brings a great level of comfort during sessions, especially when discussing vulnerable topics. She takes the time to understand the situations and emotions and provides insightful ways to work through them. I'm so grateful to have been paired with her!

Sarah has been a GREAT support for me during the past few weeks. She messages me throughout the week to check in and even wished me a great first day back at work. It is super nice to have a therapist that seems to actually care about your life even during outside scheduled session times. I definitely would recommend Sarah!
