Hello! My name is Shamika Carson and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as Licensed Addictions Counselor with over 17 years of experience providing Counseling and Mental Health Services to individuals with a variety of concerns to include: Depression, Anxiety, Substance Abuse and Anger-Management. My counseling style is Client Centered as I believe that the client would benefit from services designed to meet their individual needs. With a theoretical approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Mindfulness Techniques, I am confident in my ability to assist you in working toward your desired outcome. Very insightful, informative, and humane. Best bang for your buck. When you speak with Shamika you get the sense of someone you could relate to and she comes of very calming with an absence of judgmental behavior.

Absolutely enjoy her insight on my life stories. I have a tendency to doubt myself when it comes to my life and friendships. She has helped me see that my doubts are not necessarily valid. She listens intently, even though I feel I talk a alot while she listens. But her final thoughts about my stories makes me feel better about myself. So happy with her insight.

My therapist helps me with techniques to help decrease my anxiety. She helps me shift my views in ways that are hard for me to do when I’m having anxiety. There are techniques for when the anxiety gets bad and I can’t shake it. It’s nice to be seen and heard and to talk through things. You have a lot of conversations you wouldn’t have with anyone else to figure things out about yourself. It’s been a helpful journey and I check in with myself throughout the day to keep my anxiety lower now. I’ve never had therapy before and sometimes it’s hard to think of the questions to ask that could help. I hope her techniques help others like they’ve helped me during such a tough time.
